Country Wedding
I had the privilege of doing another wedding for our sweet friends kimberly & joe. Joe is from Texas and his wife-to-be wanted to surprise him with a strawberry-flavored grooms cake of hot dogs :) (photos courtesy of their photographer, not my iphone for once!) Kimberly did a ton of the decorations on her own, including making a quilt with the classic double wedding ring pattern which we...

Baby Showers!
Some other projects happening recently….. A cowgirl themed shower for baby Bennett. teamed up with my crafty sis-in-law for all the paper decorations :) Top tier strawberry; bottom tier oreo creme. YUM! Some “surprise-inside” chocolate dipped cupcakes I made for our OWN baby reveal — the tower of frosting is BLUE :) and then dipped like a dairy queen cone. Yowzers...

Motorized Turntable Cake
For our friends Jamie & Andy’s wedding, I constructed this custom turntable cake to highlight Andy’s skills as a DJ here in Nashville. (hire both of these people— they’re fantastically creative!)  I created a yummy creation of the classic yellow cake & chocolate icing… topped off with chocolate fondant and turntable details. Below is the completely...

A January Wedding
Oh dear I’ve been meaning to update this for a month now! Well life happens and exciting things come along and blogs just fall to the end of the list! I had the honor of creating my first real wedding cake & grooms cake for a friend of ours that deserves more than most people to have the man of their dreams! It was a beautiful location back in the old factory neighborhoods of 4th ave...

cake pops!
The latest craze has certainly come this way. So many requests for cake pops! I can’t take credit as this is not an original idea, but these are so easy to make, and so cute! These pops were specifically for a 6-year-old’s gymnastics birthday party. Pink, purple, and green were her favorite colors. Topped with drizzles and sprinkles to make them extra special! Perfectly...

Happy Birthday Emma!
My sweet friend H asked me to create a cake for her little 2-year-old’s “M&M” birthday party. Emma’s favorite color is pink and she loves loves loves icing! I used my cricut cake to cut the letters - perfect for the M&M font. It was too cute not to add Emma’s name around the side with some chocolaty sprinkles :) Once again I have no idea where I put my...

Alderman Hamilton Frost
Congrats to the re-elected Hamilton Frost of Hendersonville, TN! His sweet daughter is my next door neighbor and wanted to surprise her dad with a celebratory cake. Win or lose, he was going to be loved! Lucky for me, she watches the occasional cake-related TV show and was full of ideas of just how great this cake could be. Here he is! Hamilton has been responsible for a new park area in...

Baby Shower Treats
Last week we threw a baby shower for our friend Dear Little Buttercup. She’s due any day now! For her festive day, I made a cute set of petit fours for noshing as well as treat bags filled with decorated sugar cookies. This is one of my favorite cake stands. Its very rustic metal, which gives it great texture, but it definitely requires a doily or two for displaying these goodies. I...

Great Tower of Coconut!
For a special someone’s birthday, the love of coconut inspired this massive cake, much of which is still sitting in my refrigerator! You can guarantee that if you bunk with us, you’re going to get fed, probably with sweets :) This is a lot more cake than I intended to produce, but that’s what happens with a first-time recipe. Either too much or too little. Better to have...

Chevy Avalanche Rolls In
I have quickly learned that my idea of a “normal” cake is something non-existent. There is a rare case where I’m completely unsurprised by someone else’s creativity in what they want in a cake. This was no exception. My client, the lovely Angela, has all sorts of ideas that I had never thought a cake could be. I also love her since she loves cakes…. just for the...

Some early pictures
I know I will look back on these fondly (and probably with horror, wondering what compelled anyone to hire me) one day, but right now its a small portfolio. ———- During the terrible weekend where it seemed like the entire city was going to flood in Nashville, we were stuck in the house and I got a little cabin fever. As a gift to a friend of mine, I had promised her an owl cake...
