Baby Shower Treats

Last week we threw a baby shower for our friend Dear Little Buttercup. She’s due any day now! For her festive day, I made a cute set of petit fours for noshing as well as treat bags filled with decorated sugar cookies.

This is one of my favorite cake stands. Its very rustic metal, which gives it great texture, but it definitely requires a doily or two for displaying these goodies.

I made both chocolate and vanilla creme filled cakes, covered with red and teal fondant. Red was vanilla, teal was chocolate. (I thought the chocolate ones were tastier :) )

Decorated as packages, with sprinkles, stars, and even a little “g” for Gabriel!

I was running late, but my awesome co-hostesses put together a fantastic table! Also the food was delicious- way to go gals!

This was my first solid attempt at decorating sugar cookies the professional way. To my delight, they were not rock hard as I expected. I guess the times I’ve tasted these in the past, they must have been a little old. Note to self (if I didn’t already know it): fresh cookies are the best!

Close up of the rubber duckie…

the star…

the rocketship (my favorite)…

and the sailboat!

Another thanks to my co-hostesses for bagging these and tying them up with cute ribbon at the last minute! We are a great team!
